Although it is commonplace for supermarkets overseas to sell discounted petrol, this has not been the case in New Zealand.
Foodstuffs and BP New Zealand announced today, however, that they are joining forces to launch the Discount Fuel Docket programme.
From early November, customers who spend $40 or more at any participating New World or PakānSave supermarket will receive a fuel discount voucher redeemable for 4 cents a litre. The voucher will allow customers to purchase up to 150 litres of petrol or diesel and receive a discount of 4 cents per litre.
(The price of standard unleaded petrol in New Zealand today is around $1.42 per litre.)
