The New Zealand Immigration Service has released this fortnight’s figures for successful expressions of interest for the Skilled Migrant Category.
Points requirements were somewhat more relaxed than in recent months, and a higher proportion of applications without job offers were approved than has been usual.
EOIs were selected as follows:
- 390 EOIs were selected that had a points total of 140 or above.
- 95 EOIs were selected that had a points total of 100 or more but less than 140, and included points for offers of skilled employment or current skilled employment in New Zealand.
- 63 EOIs were selected that had a points total of 125 or more but less than 140, and included 15 points for work experience in an area of absolute skill shortage.
- 40 EOIs were selected that had a points total of 110 or more but less than 140, and included 10 points for work experience in an area of absolute skill shortage.
- 201 EOIs were selected that had a points total of 105 or more but less than 140, and included 10 points for a qualification in an area of absolute skill shortage.
A total of 789 applications - representing 1,745 people - were selected. These applicants will now undergo preliminary checks.
455 out of the 789 applications were from people who already have job offers or a job.
